I made these fun signs for our Master Bedroom.

I ran across this on Pinterest and fell HEAD OVER HEELS!

I loved the simplicity and sweetness.
I was so inspired and wanted to create my own version for our room.
I began by cutting out the words in vinyl using my Silhouette.

Then I used the negative and applied to vinyl to the wood signs.

I had wood left over from when I created the little’s silhouettes for our den,
so I decided to use it for this project.

Make sure you press the vinyl down REALLY well so it is completely adhered to the wood and the paint will not bleed behind the vinyl.

Then you will dip a stencil brush in your paint and blot until the brush is “dry”  just like I shared in this Monogrammed Pillow Tutorial last week!
Next dab and dab and dab the paint on!

Peel the vinyl off BEFORE the paint dries and…

… you have an awesome, simple but oh so very sweet sign!
(and your letters look fabulous!!!)

If you do not have a Silhouette or Cricut then you can use this brilliant technique.

Easy peasy, right?!
Happy stenciling!

DIY Monogram Lampshade {Tutorial}

In our new master bedroom is this fun lamp with our monogram on it!
If you have shopped around, then you know these are NOT cheap!
Actually, I was shocked when I found out how much just a monogrammed lampshade can cost!
But I LOVE the look of it, so I got to thinking and created this:

I found this super cute lamp at Target for less than half the price of a monogrammed lampshade, but knew it needed a little something!

Using my black vinyl from Expressions Vinyl and my Silhouette,
I created and cut out our monogram.

Then I applied the vinyl directly to the lampshade and…

Now we have a super fun,
semi-custom lamp in our bedroom!
And it cost WAY less than those fancy monogrammed lampshades!
The best part – it took me about 10 minutes make!

Gotta love achieving an “expensive” look without spending the big bucks!

BOO {to you} Wreath Tutorial!

Thank you to everyone who voted for my BOO {to you} Halloween Wreath in American Crafter Round 1!
I am so amazed at all of the support!
Thank you TONS AND TONS!
The competition is fierce this season!
All of these ladies are super talented!
I am honored to have made it to round 2!
Ok, so, Want to make a BOO {to you} Wreath for your house?!?
Well, today I will show you how!
Yay!
I wanted to use things I already had on hand, so I grabbed a grapevine wreath that was in a closet and some Krylon Primer. I gave it a good coat of primer then a coat of Krylon Metallic Silver.
I had these wooden plaques that I grabbed at Hobby Lobby a while back.
(They go on sale for 50% off often – just fyi!)

I sprayed them with Krylon White.
I also had these wooden balls.
(Ok, I have an entire drawer dedicated to wood items that are just waiting for the perfect project!)
So I gave them a good sprayin’ of Krylon White too!

While the plaques and balls were drying I gathered up my ribbon scraps.
Any of them that were black, white and orange!
See, scraps come in handy!
(yes, there was some ricrac in there as well!)
I began tying the ribbons in knots all around the wreath.
Like this:

I kept tying and tying until the wreath was covered in scrappy goodness:
I had two strips of this fun black and white fabric left over from another project.
They measured about 9 inches x 24 inches.

I laid the fabrics right sides together and stitched down one of the short ends to create one long strip of fabric.

Next I ironed the seam and then folded the long edges in about half an inch then ironed flat.

It should look something like this:

I sloppily (is that a word?!) folded the edges in then laid the wreath in it like this:
Pull the fabric and line to short edges up like this:
My handy dandy Silhouette cut out the “BOO {to you}”
and I applied it onto the large wooden plaque!
Next I took the big square wooden plaque and hot glued one end of ribbon onto the back.

I looped the ribbon around the fabric like this:
Then hot glued the other end of the ribbon to the back of the plaque making sure that it was not twisted because that would not be cute…
I wanted polka dots for the white balls, so I gathered up some left over vinyl and my hole punch.
Then punched out little holes…

And stuck them onto the balls!
How easy is that?!

I used my Silhouette to cut out a vinyl crow and stuck it onto the small wooden plaque then decided to place it on the left bottom side of the wreath.

I loaded the back of the plaque up with hot glue and then…
(it would probably be a good idea to remove the tag first… but I was too lazy)

…I slapped that bad boy right onto the wreath!
Holding it in place for a few seconds to make sure it was very secure!

I did the same for the wooden balls…
Hot glue!

Slap it on there!

And that’s it!
Now you have a super cute Halloween Wreath for your front door!

This week’s challenge is “House of Order!”

… ummmm…
I am racking my brain trying to get motivated to create order in my house!
I will need your help again on Friday – so please be ready to click on over and vote!
Yay!
… oh yea and…

The Desk.

The “new” desk that lives in our play/craft room is fun and functional and the best part….
it was FREE!
When I laid eyes on this desk, it screamed “Mad Men!”
…and I was in love!
After wiping it down really well, I got out my trusty Kilz and…

…got to sprayin.’

Once it was completely dry, I got out a can of Krylon Avocado (my favorite green at the moment) and three coats later the desk was green!

Then I taped off the top edge of the desk and protected the green paint with trash bags.
Like this:
I spray painted the top of the desk with Chalkboard Spray Paint following the directions on the back of the can.
Once the desk was totally dry, Ross moved it inside (gotta love the Hubs!), but something was just not right. Then my mom said “I think that leg needs some dots or something cute like that!”
So I grabbed some scrap Silhouette Vinyl and a hole punch…
Then stuck the little dots onto the leg of the desk!

Now I have the perfect place to sew and craft!

Gotta love a fabulous freebie!

Monogram Frame Tutorial!

Make sure you submit a question for me to answer on my first ever Vlog tomorrow!
My CPIC (Crafting Partner In Crime – Duh!), McKeever and I got together a few weeks ago and created these super cute Monogram Frames for our girl’s rooms!
I already had the frames stuffed in a closet…
so we pulled them out and put a few coats of Krylon Ballet Slipper on them!

While the frames were drying, we went inside and made these cute bows:

After the frames were completely dry, we roughed the edges up with sandpaper.

Then we hot glued the bows onto the top-center of the frame.

Next we cut the girl’s initials using my Silhouette and then spray painted them green and applied it to hot pink fabric that we already cut to fit inside of the frame!
(Yes – I SPRAY PAINT vinyl)
(… it would be smart to iron the fabric before applying the vinyl… just sayin’)
Now Harper’s monogram is displayed cutely in her room!

Love it!

{stuff}

By our backdoor, in the mudroom, sits our {stuff} container.
Inside is “stuff” like:
Keys
Sunglasses
Cell Phones
Change
Random Receipts
(Pretty much all of the ”stuff” that used to junk up the counter in the mudroom…)
I found this at Hobby Lobby for about $3.50.

Ok, but not enough color…
So, I stuffed it with news paper and taped off the top. I liked the color of the inside - and I did not want to paint it…

I used my trusty Silhouette to cut out the “Stuff” and my {}’s but I only had black vinyl on hand and did not want to use black…
So, what did I do?!
I SPRAY PAINTED the vinyl!
Yep. That’s right.
And it worked like a charm.

Then I gave the container a few good coats of spray paint.

Once it was COMPLETELY dry, I took off the tape and took out the news paper.

Then I added the {stuff}.
Next time you don’t quite have to color vinyl you want, spray paint it!
Just make sure to let it dry REALLY well between coats and before you attempt to apply it.

Ruffled Bottom Monogrammed Onesie!

I decided to make the Birthday Girl a Ruffled Bottom Monogrammed Onesie!
The back!
I loved it sooo much that I HAD to make one for Harper!

I am about to make one for her to wear everyday this summer!

Love! Thanks Silhouette for cutting out the circle and the initials!

And the ruffled bottom just may be my favorite thing about this onesie!

And just because I can’t get enough of that cute ruffled bottom:

The perfect birthday gift for a perfect little girl!
What?!?
You want one too?!
Well guess what will be added to The Shop soon, very very soon!
Yep, that’s Right!
Get ready because these cuties are going up for SALE so your little princess can wear one too!

Tote Bag.

My aunt gave me these super cute Tote Bags! They are fun colors but plain and I can’t have anything that’s plain. So, I did this to it:
I made a ruffle pinned it around the top of the tote…

Stitched it on with two lines of stitches to make sure it stayes in place and doesn’t flop over.

Then my Silhouette cut out the “n” and I appliqued it right on the front of the tote.

Seriously I think this took about 15 minutes total! So simple and quick!
Now I have a cute tote to hold all of our sunscreen this summer!

Beautify that Boring Knife Block!

The New.

The Old. Yuck. Boring. Blah.
Isn’t it amazing what a little paint and some sanding can do?!
Thank you, Silhouette, for cutting out my “P” - You are the BEST!
Now go on and beautify your old Knife Block!
And use a fun COLOR for Pete’s sake!

The Order Has Been Placed!

I finally ordered the vinyl and heat transfer vinyl for my Silhouette! I literally stayed up all night last night dreaming of all of the projects I am going to do as soon as the UPS man drops the box off at my house!
I am most excited about the Frosted Glass Premium Vinyl!
I love this idea:
or maybe, I’ll do something like this:
If I had a Goldfish, I would totally do this:
Ahhh! The possibilities are ENDLESS!
