{Broken}

This morning while Harper and I were at physical therapy with Cliff,
our house was broken into.
Thankfully, I noticed something was not right before bringing the littles into the house and was able to get out safely.
I am so thankful that my children and I are ok.
I am so thankful for all of the men and women who put their lives on the line on a daily basis to save ours, seriously Policemen (and women) ROCK!

My laptop was stolen along with my iPad and some jewelry…
they tried to take the tv in the den and our desktop computer, but were spooked and left with what they already had in their hands.

That being said,
all of my pictures from the last three months are on the laptop…
along with a month’s worth of blog posts (yes, I had tutorials for July already written…).

I am going to do my best to try and rewrite most of the posts, take new pictures of the steps in the tutorials I had planned to share with all of you (they were awesome, if I do say so myself!)…

So if my posts are spotty for the next few weeks,
please know that I am busy trying to recreate the things I have already created, re photographing  projects and rewriting tutorials!

I appreciate your understanding, kind words and support!

Oh yea… and I’ll also be busy praying that the wonderful police officers catch that no good, piece of junk that broke into our home.

DIY Picture Frame {Tutorial} & Using Lacquer Spray Paint

Remember these fun frames that display the little’s photos in our master bedroom?!

They used to look ummmm not so cute…

I busted out removed the mirrors from the frames.

Then I whipped out a can of Rustoleum Black Lacquer spray paint.
I wanted the frames to look super shiny and elegant so the “lacquer” look was perfect for this project!

DIY Picture Frame, Open Back Picture Frame, Lacquer Spray Paint, Picture Frame Tutorial

When using this spray paint, you want to take extra time to make sure that the surface you are painting is SUPER clean and free of dust, dirt, etc. This paint is SUPER glossy and a tiny spec of dust or sand will show up. After a thorough cleaning, make sure that your surface is COMPLETELY dry. Following the directions on the back of the can, paint your frames (or whatever you are painting). Use thin coats allowing the paint to dry completely before applying the next coat. Eventually, your surface will be super shiny and fabulous! TAKE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PART!

Once your frames are totally dry (I let mine dry overnight just to be super safe), get some twine, scissors and a staple gun.
(Note: you can use any type of wire, very thick string, etc)

Turn your frame over and staple the twine to the back of the frame leaving an inch or so sticking out on each end.

Then take the extra twine on both ends and staple it like this, pulling in the opposite direction:

See how they look from the front?!

I used tiny clothes pins to hang the photos!

Now you have super fun open back frames to display your favorite photos!
The best part is how simple it is to switch the photos out!

Baby Update {31 weeks}

I am 32 weeks today…
That means I am 8 MONTHS PREGNANT…
and THAT means Hollis will be here in 5-6 weeks (if not before then)…
and that means I am kinda FREAKING out…
But super excited too!

Besides irregular (but pretty strong) contractions and my back REALLY hurting I am feeling wonderful and really enjoying this pregnancy!

{31 weeks}

My sweet friend Kara from Mine for the Making sent Hollis and I a few goodies from her fabulous shop! Seriously you have to check out all of the goodies Kara creates!

{Thank you Kara! XOXO!}

Oh yea, if you have a handmade shop or a blog,
I need YOUR help for when Hollis arrives in early August!
If you are interested, you can find more information here:

All things baby

This week I had another ultrasound (surprised?!…) and Hollis is doing just fine!
She would not let us see her face this week, but that’s ok because I have another ultrasound on Monday and there are like a million more are already scheduled until she is born, so we will have PLENTY of chances to get some fun pictures of her!

Here is a picture of Hollis’s ear:

The fuzzy white stuff is HAIR! Apparently she has a BUNCH of hair which is perfect because I have at least 100 bows for her to wear!
Yay!

Hollis weighs 4 pounds 5 ounces!
Overall she is in the 65th percentile!
Well, except for her head circumference…
that measured 34 weeks 5 days which put her head size in the 97th percentile…
Ummm… not too sure how I feel about that! Ha!

We are so so so SO thankful that Hollis is growing and is healthy!

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

Friday Phone Dump {Instagram}

We are officially back from the beach for a little while and this week I have been trying to get back to our “normal” routine, unpack, catch up on laundry and because I am completely nuts, I decided to completely redecorate our den (more on this later)!

This was my first time using a stencil on a wall and I was so impressed with how simple it really is!
It looks like it was sooooo difficult, but really, it wasn’t!
I think watching the instructional videos really helped me understand the proper way to stencil a wall.
You can find these super helpful videos here.

{Sunrise}

Have you ever seen something in nature that changed your life forever?!
A few weeks ago, I did.
It was 5:42am at the beach.
Ross and “the guys” left at 3:30am to go offshore fishing.
No matter how many times he goes, I will always worry about him and pray and pray and pray for his safe return the entire time he is out there in the ocean on the boat.
I stumbled into the kitchen to get a glass of water and was shocked to see this stunning scene in action outside.

Sunrise

After picking my jaw up off the floor, I immediately grabbed the camera and went onto the deck to witness this spectacular show unfold right before my eyes.

Sunrise

Then it happened.
The sun began to peek out over the horizon.

Sunrise

The way purple melts into pink which blends seamlessly with orange and eventually gives way to the most amazing shade of blue is so perfect that only God could create it.

Sunrise

I have never seen something so stunning.

Sunrise

I stood there on the deck and all I would do was praise God for creating this beautiful world that we are all so blessed to live in.

Sunrise

As the sun continued to rise,
I promised myself that I will take the time to stop and truly enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.

Sunrise

I will make a conscious effort to REALLY pay attention to the spectacular scenes created by God that play out everyday that most of us do not even notice.

Sunrise

Soak up the beauty that this world has to offer.

Sunrise

God is so good and watching this sunrise made me realize just how much effort He put into creating this spectacular world just for us to enjoy.
His love for us is amazing.
His love for us is unconditional.
His love for us will never ever fade away.

{The Beach}

The beach is our happy place.
Where we love to spend our summers.
Growing up, summer meant playing in the sand, riding the boat out in the ocean, feeling the burn of salty water mixed with sunscreen on my sun kissed cheeks, spending days and days with cousins and being surrounded by family.
Ross and I feel so blessed that our littles can spend a good bit of their summers at the beach.
After all, it is our happy place.

071

They are comfortable on the beach.

090

Occasionally a big wave will come and Harper runs to me and yells
“hold you hand Mama!”
And of course I secretly love those big waves because they mean that I get to hold her hand.

102

Don’t even get me started on these cute, squishy, sandy cheeks.

115

Our days on the beach are filled with squeals of delight, laughter and pure happiness.

DSC_0610

This year, The Boy is convinced he can surf.
Ross and I could sit  there and watch him “surf” all day!
He is so stinkin’ awesome, if I do say so myself.

DSC_0669

Sometimes we take walks on the beach where we spend time chatting with the littles,
asking them questions, listening to what life is like through their eyes.
They see the magic that this world has to offer and their sweet, innocence makes my heart melt.

130

Happy.

163

Freedom.

171

Late afternoons are spent on the boat.

DSC_0399

On the boat, Cliff is in his element.
Asking Ross a ton of questions.
He is a little captain in training.

DSC_0422

The best part is when we have friends with us.
Ross is able to sit in the back of the boat and enjoy our family.

This is our happy place.

DSC_0483

Smiles fill our faces.

DSC_0524

Being together.
Soaking up every second.
This is what life is about.

DSC_0527

Exploring the inlet is always so much fun.
And so beautiful.

240

Then the moment we have waited for is here.
Sunset.
So stunning it takes your breath away no matter how many times you have seen it.

333

Ross and I laugh when we ride across the inlet to the restaurants and the littles scream and point to the “real” pirate ship!
No matter how many times we drive past it, Cliff always reassures Harper that our boat goes WAY faster than that pirate ship and those pirates will NEVER be about to catch us!

420

Taking the boat to dinner is always a fun treat.
It’s different and exciting to pull up to the dock in front of the restaurant!

425

At the beach,
we are all high on life.

DSC_0600

Life is so precious and there is something about being here that always reminds us to be thankful for every second we have together.

DSC_0601

The beach,
our happy place.

Where is your happy place?!
