Baby Update : 15 weeks!

I am 15 weeks today!
This pregnancy is FLYING by, which kind of freaks me out because…
I still can’t seem to wrap my mind around how to get of the house with THREE littles!
(tips from you moms with many littles are welcome and very much needed!)

I haven’t been sleeping well at ALL the past week.
But one super exciting thing happened when I was staring at the ceiling at 3 am…
I felt the baby move THREE times (at 14 weeks 4 days)!
This was the first time I was SURE it was the baby!
So neat and so sweet!

We went to my Doctors office yesterday morning for an ultrasound before heading over to the
hospital to get my cerclage.

I was super excited to find out if  “Three” is a boy or a girl…
but the baby had other plans.
After 45 minutes of poking the belly, shaking the belly, laying on my side, going to the bathroom,
switching from an abdominal ultrasound to an internal ultrasound, then back to an abdominal ultrasound
it was determined that the baby wants to keep it’s gender a secret… for now!
No matter which angle we tried, the baby would move it’s bottom away from the screen!
I will go back next week for my post op check up and will get ANOTHER ultrasound then.
They said that this time they will not let me leave without knowing whether we need to buy Pink or Blue!
Most importantly, the baby looks perfectly healthy!

Here is Baby #3 at 14 weeks 6 days wearing the umbilical cord like a boa, which makes me think it may be a girl!
(We showed Harper how the baby wants to ba like “Fancy Nancy” too and she was thrilled!)

Near the end of the ultrasound, the baby put it’s hand over it’s face as if to say
“Geeez, will you just leave me alone already?!”
(…already acting like a teenager!)

Then it happened.
The ultrasound tech switched back to my belly and said “oooh I think we got it this time!”
… then two little hands floated on the screen and  the baby covered it’s private area…
and we all laughed!

After the ultrasound, we headed to the hospital where I had my cerclage placed.
I chose to get another spinal instead of being put to sleep because it is safer for the baby.
They only thing about that choice is that it is soooo strange to be awake in the operating room.
But the nurses and my Doctor are fabulous and made sure I was super comfy.

It went MUCH better this time because everyone was aware of the complications I had  last
time. They all decided the pain from last time was due to the fact that after receiving a saddle block,
my bladder was SUPER numb and my bladder was OVER-full, which is extremely painful.
So, in recovery, they kept scanning my bladder with an ultrasound machine and would empty it
since I wasn’t able to go potty myself since my bladder was so numb.
The pain would get intense when my bladder was full, but as soon as it was emptied, the pain was gone!
I am taking Indocin to stop contractions and will be able to stop taking it tomorrow.
We were finally able to come home last night and the baby and I are doing great!
I have a fetal doppler at home, so we listened to the baby this morning and
it’s little heart is just beating away which
is so comforting because I have been off my blood thinners for 48 hours.
This weekend I am on bedrest taking it easy and eating all the yummy food that
family and friends brought over!
Thank you all for your prayers and support!

Next week we WILL find out if this baby is a boy or a girl!
What do you think it is?!

You look so cute!! I love that the baby was using the umbilical cord as a boa!

  4. So glad everything is okay! Can’t wait to find out the baby’s gender!

  5. Glad that you are home and that things went well. You look so cute with your baby bump. I have the bladder problem when I have surgery. It is awful. So glad they could empty it for you. Unless you have had that problem you have no idea how miserable that can be. Rest.

you look super adorable! i’m a new reader, so forgive my lack of knowledge/many questions! i hadn’t ever heard of cerclage, but looked it up and am so impressed with modern medicine. it’s amazing! i’m curious, however, what your history is now…. and i know it could be painful, so i hesitate to ask… but if you’re willing/able to share, do you mind? or is there a post/posts that you can point me in the direction of to catch me up to speed? regardless, congratulations! so fun!

i only have 2 kids, but i have heard that going from 3 to 4 (family size, not kids!) is the most difficult, even more difficult than going from just 2 to 3 which surprised me. but if that’s the case, it seems you shouldn’t have anything to worry about! i have also heard that once you have 3 kids, you might as well have 8, so you better get busy. ;) as far as gender is concerned… i’m betting boy. only because i have two boys, so that’s pretty much all i know! ha! congratulations again! so glad you’re both healthy!
