I often get emails asking “how do you do it all?!”
I have said this before
“I DON’T!”
And today I am going to SHOW you the chaos that is our life sometimes…
Let me start off by saying that before I started my blog our house was spotless (most of the time).
The bed was ALWAYS made first thing in the morning.
Meals were planned out a month in advance.
I worked out everyday and the laundry was ALWAYS done.
THAT was the past.
Now…
Laundry is often put off until we all run out of clean clothes:
(anyone wanna come fold a sink full of laundry?!)
I am in LOVE with my Crock Pot!
Most days I find random stuff that is in the freezer, toss it in and let it cook!
We eat a ton of soups, stews, chili – anything that is easily cooked in the crock pot!
(I am constantly looking for quick, simple meals – if you have any you want to share please leave a link in the comments below!)
These days, our bed is RARELY made…
And you have to watch where you walk.
Toys are strewn throughout the house…
And more often than not, this happens:
What used to be our spotless, sparkling kitchen counters are now covered with craft stuff and sippy cups when I am in the middle of what I like to call a “creative tornado.”
I tend to have bursts of creativity and will often work on multiple projects at the same time. Once they are completed I clean up the mess and put the supplies back where they belong where they will stay until the next creative tornado strikes!
You know what?!
I am happy.
I am ok with a little mess.
I am thrilled to be able to write.
Create.
Connect with others.
Share ideas.
Inspire others and be inspired.
I am still learning.
Trying to juggle blogging, cleaning and life.
Some days I blog.
Some days I clean.
Some days I just play with the littles and take a moment to soak them in.
And that is what JIAD is about.
A little bit crafty.
A little bit of life.
A little bit of family.
Truth be told – I am not perfect.
I am human.
What is your truth?

You go, girl! I love the everyday craziness and that's exactly how it is in our home, and i think most! Way to keep it real!

Haha, love the honesty in this post! Thanks for keeping it real – this whole thing is just a balancing act. As long as everyone's happy, then you're doing something right ;D
I love your honesty. I feel like sometimes when people look in on how others live, they think they have it all together. For me I have to accomplish all the necessary items first, before I can do any of my hobbies, or have any free time. Usually that 'me' time is a sacrifice on my sleep, because there is no way to do any crafting or sewing during the day.
Anyway, thanks for keeping it real friend, I love that about you!
Haahaa… I love it.. Totally can relate.. This was a fun post.. Wish I could give you a hand with laundry but we are in the same boat, I HATE to do it.. lol.. But hey, as long as you can create, be happy and exist with the ones you love happily each day – what's a little mess..? : )) LOVE this..
I think a lot of us can relate with this!
I love it!!! I often feel overwhelmed with the amount of "stuff" that needs to get done in one day! I feel like i am just a maid and a short order cook! But lately i have been taking time to just breath! Ok the house is messy and the bed is not made but I was present with my children. Yesterday is a perfect example…I am leaving on Thursday for a trip. I need to pack myself and then my kids to stay at their Mimi's…But yesterday morning (9-12:30) we played outside on the deck and swings! I loved it! The other stuff will get done maybe just not as soon as i would like! lol
I seriously love posts like this! It's so good to know that I am not the only one that can't do it all.
As bloggers we tend to only put the perfect stuff out there, its nice to see the ugly too. lol
Great post! My truth is the longer that I am a mom the less I care about trying to have things perfect. Your home looks like you have a lot of fun! And I love my crock pot too. When I find a new crock pot recipe that is worth repeating I am thrilled. I don't know if I commented before but I love your blog.
My house is pretty much the same… except that I don't own a crockpot. You will at times find me making pattie mix or some thing like that with the kids in the morning (on the days when I am cooking), and I cook it in the afternoon while the small one is sleeping. I will often make a double batch so that there is plenty to be stored in the freezer. Then on those crafty days where you realise it is dinner time (because your husband just walked in the front door!) I just whip some out and make a quick salad (Or do vegies if there is time). Oh, and when we are REALLY hungry, and it's late, we have been known to have the odd "cereal for dinner" meal.
Thanks for being real.
As I read your post today I sit in the middle of one of my own creative tornados covering my computer desk so that I barely have room to type! It makes for a happy momma! Love your blog and am inspired by everything on it — your crafts, your attitude, your love for family — all just beautiful!
A clean and perfect life is a funeral for learning and experiencing simple pleasures.
AND- where did you get your cute flour/sugar/containers?!?

Good for you! Something's are worth letting go at times.
LOVE this post
A fave for sure. It's so true. My house looks the same … and I was giving myself such grief over it (and to make it worse, there's not a whole lot of cleaning & cooking to be done when you are recovering from surgery!)and I really just need to say "who cares…I am happy..my family is happy.. we are healthy and blessed" and leave it at that
Thanks for the reminder friend!
You mean you suppose to fold laundry? Don't we just get dressed from it in the laundry area?hee hee hee.
I am thrilled to have found your blog. I am a mommy to a special needs child as well, my daughter has mild CP as well as a rare genetic disorder. The chaos runs rampant in our home too, nice to see you honesty and bravery in posting about them. I look forward to getting to know you better and hope you get a chance to swing by my blog (when you can!) to say Hi! Been struggling a bit with the many demands of motherhoods & blogging!
Thanks for bring so real and so You! It's great to see that someone who produces such beautiful and creative things can do so in the midst of "real life"!
