Turkey Shirt {Tutorial}

Remember those super cutie Turkey Shirts I made the littles to wear?!
Today, I am going to show you how to make your own!
Start out by printing the template below.
Turkey Applique Pattern

Choose the fabrics you want to use for your turkey and apply heat n bond to the fabric following the directions on the package. Next, cut out the template pieces and trace each piece onto the back of the fabric (the paper from the heat n bond is still attached!)!
Note: For the Ribbon Turkey I used shapes A and B then added ribbon to fill in the empty spaces.
For the Regular Turkey I used shapes A, B and C.

For the Ribbon Turkey:
Cut 4 strips of ribbon about 6 inches long.

Fold in half like this making sure the top sides of the ribbon are layered on top of each other pointing up!

And stitch…

Next you should have a nice pile of ribbons, like this:

Gather all of the pieces that you cut out an arrange them to make sure you like your turkey!

Get the shirt and iron on the pieces A and B following the directions on the package:

Then stitch around.

Pin the ribbon pieces on to fill in the gaps, like this:

And stitch them down!

Once everything is stitched in place, lay the body of the turkey on top of the feathers and iron on following the directions on the package.

Stitch around the body of the Turkey.

For the Regular Turkey:
Lay pieces A, B, and C out.
(A is the center, then B is on either side, then C is at the bottom)
Iron on following the directions on the package…

Then stitch around all of the edges and then lay the body on top .
Add the body and stitch around it too!

Then iron on the eyes and beak…
stitch them down and….

You have the perfect outfit for your littles to wear on Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hair {HELP!}

Ok, so I need YOUR help!
Please help me decide what to do with my hair!
Short
(I am on the far right – my cousins are on the left – Hey Molly and Dell!)

Short again – a different angle!
(Preggo with Harper)

Medium…

A little bit longer…

And now!
(which is long to me!)
What should I do?!
Short * Medium*Long
… I can’t decide…
Oh yea, I stumbled upon these oldies of me and the Hubs…
…did you know for a loooong time ago I was blond … and Ross rode motocross?!
Crazy!
So tell me,
What should I do?!

The Fair.

This year was a little different.
I didn’t cringe at the thought.
Actually, I was strangely a tiny bit excited to go.
Despite my true feelings about it.
I knew this year the littles would REALLY enjoy going…
So, I put on a smile and off we went…
to the Fair!

This year Cliff rode rides for the first time.
He LOVED it.
The thrill, the excitement, the ability to participate.
He was able to join in the fun.
He didn’t have to watch from the sidelines.
And I loved seeing his little face light up with delight around every jerky turn.

Harper and I watched Cliff and Daddy with delight.
Waving everytime they whized by in a blur of craziness.
She clapped and yelled “weeeeeee!” the entire time.
She loved it cheering for her “Dada” and “Cleee!”
…and secretly I loved that she was still too small to ride the rides.
This year, she is still my baby.
The weather was perfect.
Fair weather.
A slightly cool breeze in the air.
The perfect excuse to wear our winter coats.

Then it happened…
we found the Fisk Fries.
My all time favorite.
(Yes, eating these fries is a VERY serious matter…)

The people.
The lights.
The mechanical sounds made my the rides that were thrown together waaaay to quickly.
The screams of those who were enjoying every tummy dropping, thrilling ride.
It is overstimulating.
The littles rode in the stroller wide eyed.
Taking it all in…

This year the Fair was fun.
Happy.
Exiting.

This year we are WAY too many corn dogs.
Then I teared up when The Boy eagerly hopped onto THE Dragon Rollercoaster with Ross.
He is growing up.
Way too fast.

This year Cliff understood how to play the games….

…and he won!

And on the way out…

…we HAD to grab a Candy Apple.

As strange as it sounds…
I think I can’t wait for the Fair to come back next year.
(Did I REALLY just admit that?!… strange!)

Gobble Gobble!

Back in AUGUST, I made the littles their…
Thanksgiving outfits!
Gobble Gobble!
Stay tuned!
A FULL tutorial complete with a printable is coming sometime this week!

Fancy Nancy Goes to School!

On Halloween, the littes were asked to “Dress as your favorite story book character” at Harper’s preschool…
So, Fancy Nancy went to school!
Harper Fancy Nancy took her part VERY seriously…
She was in FULL character the entire time!

All of the anxious parents lined up in the Gathering Place in our Church ready to see their littles pass by in the parade, the cameras were flashing, mommies were violently waving to get their little one’s attention and then once they were spotted… the shrieks and tears came…

…but not from Nancy.
Nope, Nancy proudly smiled for the camera in all of her fancy glory!

It is three weeks later and I am still trying to get Harper out of character…
I think some little girls are just meant to be “fancy!”
