Baby Gate.

In the doorway of our kitchen leading into the mudroom, there is a RED gate…

It used to be plain and blah… boring and dull… until I had an idea…

SPRAY PAINT the baby gate!
What?!
You aren’t surprised?!
Now our boring, blah baby gate is fabulous and fun!
When in doubt, spray paint the boring out!

I don't have little kids, but I think your idea to paint your baby gate is genius. I even featured it on my "Metamorphosis Monday" post today! As I say in the post, the paint gives the baby gate panache, if that's possible!
