My Christmas Present to ME!

I decided I would make something for myself for Christmas this year! So I made myself a skirt!
Wanna see it?!

It is super easy and quick to make!

Maybe I'll have to make myself another one just so I can share with you how to make it!

My Hubby...

...Plays Dress-Up!

As most of you know Cliff and I were very sick on Christmas and could not get out of the bed. I was napping when I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. It was Ross. He and Harper had been playing in the den with all of the new toys Santa left! He seemed kind of excited and said "Guess what we just did?!" I groaned "Whaaa?" He chirped "You know ummm... You know! Like I opened Harper's new
'purse' and I put her bracelet, sunglasses and other stuff on... You know babe!... I even put her fake lipstick on her too!" I whispered "You mean Dress-Up?" His face lit up as he replied "Yea! Dress-up! That's it!" I smiled soooo big (I would have laughed, but that would not have ended up too well...). I thought this was the cutest thing Ross has ever done! He was so proud that he played Dress-Up with Harper!

So here she is in all of her prettiness:

Such a little Priss Pot!

Happy First Birthday Sweet Harper

Sweet Harper Ann,

Today you turn one!

I can not believe that my baby is one already... your first year flew by way too fast. I keep finding myself remembering the day you were born. I get all teary eyed thinking about how much you have grown, how much you have changed and  how any day now, you are about to round the corner from being a "baby" to being a "toddler." I am savoring every second of your "baby hood" and wishing I could make time stand still so I can just cradle you in my arms and see you look up at me with your sweet little smile that melts my heart every time.

Here is where your journey began, One year ago today.

Your daddy and I walked into the hospital at December 29, 2009 at 7:00am. I was 37 weeks (which was a HUGE accomplishment) pregnant and Dr. Keeton was inducing me because my fluids were very low and it was no longer safe for you to be in my belly. Your daddy and I were over the moon with excitement! Here is the last picture of you in my belly before the induction began:

This next moment was one of the most magical moments in my life. At 5:24pm you came into this world after three quick pushes. I actually reached down and "delivered" you myself. your birth was beautiful and amazing. I asked Dr. Keeton about 100 times if you were breathing, if you were ok. She kept saying "Yes, She is perfectly beautiful and healthy!" You weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces, exactly 2 pounds bigger than your brother was. This moment when your daddy and I looked at your sweet face, I knew that God sent you straight to us from Heaven. I felt as if I was holding a slice of heaven. The newness, the innocence, the beauty of this moment will forever be ingrained in my mind. Your tiny presence in the room made time stand still. You were so tiny and so beautiful.

You stayed on my chest and in my arms for hours after your birth. You were not taken away from me. We just stared at each other and the room around us seemed to be spinning, but all I could focus on was you.

This moment I realized we were a real family of four and the feeling was so surreal. You made our family complete.

Here you are next to your first Baby Doll! You were teeny tiny and oh so cute! I love how you  always curled up like this. This is how I imagined you were positioned in my belly, but upside down of course!

You began to grow so fast from this infant that I just getting to know into the sweetest little baby. Your favorite thing to do your first year of life was to nurse and I love that special time we spend together. I am so glad you are still nursing.

I just love your little thighs and baby fat. Your tiny little feet are super cute too. I want to remember the way it feels when I hold you in my arms and "breathe" your sweetness in.

Oh, and your little dainty fingers are too sweet. I wish I could feel your little hands wrap around my finger forever, but I know that everyday you are growing bigger, so for now, I just close my eyes and make a mental note of what this feels like.

Today you weigh 16 pounds 5 ounces! You like to play with baby dolls and "girlie" things. You say "Bay Bay" for baby.  Sometimes you want to play with your brother's trucks too!  You get into everything. You love to "dance" to music. You love to clap your hands. You crawl very fast and can stand independently for a few seconds. You can also cruise furniture! On December 27th you took you first step to your daddy. I love you more than words can ever say. During your first year of life, I have learned so much from you. You need me in a totally different way than your brother does and I love that about you. You need me emotionally and socially. You need me to play with you every waking moment and although sometimes I need to be doing the laundry or cleaning the house, I know that soon you will not "need" me to entertain you, so I let the house go and we play, giggle, snuggle and give kisses. You have awakened little girl inside of me. I am so glad that you chose me to be your mommy and that God blessed our family with such a wonderful little girl.

You are splendid.
You are so incredibly yummy.
You are mine.
No matter how big you get, or how fast you grow-up, I will always look into your eyes and see my little "baby Harper".

Happy First Birthday!

I love you so very much!

With hugs and kisses,

Cliff Post-Op Week Five!

I'm Baaaaaack! Yippie! Anywho...

Post-Op week five was very exciting for us!

Cliff worked very hard during PT and his exercises at home with Ross and I! He can now do a "bridge" all by himself and repeat it 30 times in a row (I don't think I could even do that! ha!)! We are so proud of him! Cliff also did very well with tall kneeling at his train table and worked hard at crawling on hands and knees. He also taught himself how to get off of his therapy bench all by himself (not too sure if this is good or bad...). We are still in awe of his progress and are so thankful that God has placed His mighty hands on our little boy!

Here he is doing a leg lift WITH his braces on -added weight ;)

And this was his BIGGEST accomplishment last week:

Cliff can step up with ONE foot at a time!!! He could not do this at ALL before the surgery! This is HUGE for Cliff!

Step up with his right foot:

THEN complete step-up with his left foot! (Look at his face, priceless!)

So Proud!

Then Step down with one foot at a time! Yahooo!

And if that wasn't enough, Cliff decided to walk across the room with a smile on his face!

Big Steps!

Then he walked all the way back too! Go Cliff Go!

We are so proud of Cliff! I am amazed by his perseverance and strength!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

The other day I asked Cliff "who's birthday it is on Christmas?"
I expected him to say "Santa" or "Mine" but instead he looked at me with his "duh face" and replied "Jesus's!" I just about fell on the floor with joy! I am so proud of him! So I decided that every Christmas, we will make Jesus a Birthday Cake and sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus! Cliff at only 3 years old, knows that Christmas is not just about Santa and Presents! This makes Ross and I so happy to know that our Children DO hear the Bible stories and Scripture we share with them. I am so thankful that God allows Ross and I to share His words with our children in a way that they can understand and apply to their lives.

I plopped Cliff on the counter (look at how relaxed his legs are!) and we made Jesus a Birthday Cake! He loved mixing, pouring and singing the Christmas Songs that were playing on our local Christian Radio Station!

And here it is all ready to be eaten on Christmas!

I hope that ya'll have A Very Merry Christmas!

Gingerbread House!

Some wonderful family friends gave Cliff this Gingerbread House (Thank you Dunbar's)!

And talk about talent!

Isn't this so neat?!

And the view from the back of the house:

I love the details on this house! I could look at it all day! But since I unwrapped it, Cliff and Ross have been picking it apart! Now it doesn't stand a chance!

Bye Bye pretty Gingerbread House!

The Singing Christmas Tree!

Our Church puts on an awesome Christmas show called The Singing Christmas Tree.
Seven years have passed since the last showing. So I was super excited when I learned that our Church was bringing it back this year! I remember going to see The Singing Christmas Tree when I was younger and it was something I looked forward to. I am so thrilled that I am now able to share this awesome tradition with my children!

Cliff and Harper loved seeing the lights! They really are beautiful! Harper danced and clapped the whole time! Cliff did too! (I just couldn't get a good pic of him...)

Isn't this so neat?! I wish you could hear the music! It was so loud and beautiful!

We were all captivated the entire time!

I just love the Christmas Story!

We are so blessed to be apart of such a wonderful Church that can share such a powerful message with our community! It is so easy to forget what Christmas is really all about and The Singing Christmas Tree is the perfect reminder that it is not about presents or food. Christmas is about celebrating Jesus's Birthday and the gift of Eternal Life that Jesus gave each and everyone of us!

Felt Christmat Trees Tutorial!

Last week I showed you my Garnet Hill inspired Felt Christmas Trees and now I wanna show you how to make your own!

Cut out your trees in felt (make sure to cut 2 pieces one for the front and one for the back!)! Be creative and use fun colors too!

Decorate the front of your little trees with ribbons, sequins, buttons and anything else you can think of!

See?! Like this:

Put right sides together and stitch all around, leaving the bottom open.  (remember to back stitch at both ends!)

Turn right side out:

And Stuff!

Then go outside and find the perfect stick to act as the trunk of your tree:

Push stick into the tree (you gotta kinda work it through the stuffing!) an:d hot glue around the stick to close the base of the tree:

Then I put a little Styrofoam in a votive from the Dollar Store, stuck the stick in and topped it off with moss!

Enjoy your Felt Christmas Trees!

The Elf On The Shelf!

This was given to our family by one of my best friends (love you Kyle!) when Cliff was a teeny-tiny baby and it is one of our FAVORITE Christmas Traditions!

The Elf On The Shelf!
Not only do we love our little Elf that we names Tinsel, but we love the story too:

Tinsel goes back to the North Pole every night to tell Santa if Cliff and Harper have been good and every morning, we find him in the most peculiar places!

Like perched on our Coat Rack:

One morning he was hiding in our Christmas Tree!

He has been spotted in Harper's stocking too:

And even sitting on my Christmas Ribbon Garland that is hanging on our mantle!

Oh yea, I know this is breaking ALL of the rules, but one morning he was hiding under the Tree with all of the presents and SOMEONE got her little hands on him:

And according to Harper, he is pretty tasty too!
